Potts Point Vintage

I virtually met Arnold Kieldgaard from Potts Point Vintage on Instagram! I seem to meet a lot of interesting people this way. I loved Arnold's feed showcasing great vintage designer pieces so I reached out to see what inspired this great collection.

HISTORY

Having lived in Katoomba, Arnold says that vintage fashion is a big way of life in the Blue Mountains. As a lover of vintage cars, architecture, movies & fashion he saw a big gap in the market regarding men’s vintage, so started a shop that now has grown to be almost 50/50 between men's and women's vintage apparel in Potts Point. As well as fashion, the store stocks oil paintings, collectable mid century Italian glass art, plus many other beautiful period pieces. A wide variety of styles and eras are catered for, ranging from the 1890s to the 1980s!

LIFE BEFORE VINTAGE

Before setting up his business ventures, Arnold worked as a financial auditor which gave him a great background in business skills including the pitfalls. Using these skills Potts Point Vintage was born. Although it seems an unusual love affair both the fashion and financial skills have helped Arnold build a thriving business fitting out stylish people in Sydney.

CLIENTS

Potts Point Vintage has a few celebrity clients including ex Socceroo, Ljubo Milicevic. Other stylish people who have bought from Arnold include politicians, singers, actors and actresses and the whole spectrum !

STOCK

Many items come from elderly people who are downsizing their lifelong possessions ! Most are one owner collector pieces (some handed down to them by their mother or grandmother) in pristine condition. Sometimes Arnold gets to hear the story behind the items, and is lucky enough to get the original box and receipt with the clothing!

FAVOURITE BRANDS

Arnold loves classy French fashion such as Dior ! That’s why they supplied to so many Hollywood films back in the golden years! Another favourite is Prada, for their quality and classic lines! Having owned several Prada pieces himself, he says that they are designed to last a long time.
