Elizabeth Jane: Eight essential tips for newly single people to survive and thrive in 2025

As the calendar turns to 2025, many individuals will be entering the new year single, navigating life after a relationship breakup. 


“Ending a relationship can be challenging, but it’s also an opportunity for growth and reinvention.  2025 can be the year you redefine your life, rediscover your passions and truly thrive,” Elizabeth Jane said. 


According to Elizabeth Jane, some 100,000 people will experience divorce by the end of the year.  This means many people will be moving into 2025 newly single and looking for ways to restart their life. 


Elizabeth Jane, respected wellbeing and mindfulness keynote speaker, relationships’ coach and mentor, celebrated artist and author of Amazon best-seller ‘Free and First - Unlocking Your Ultimate Life’, shares some tips to help people get through Christmas as a single person.   


Jane experienced a sudden and traumatic divorce after 25 years of marriage and during her difficult and life changing journey of rebuilding her life and finding her new path, she journaled the process translating her insights and learnings into a highly sought-after self-help book.


Jane now speaks all over the world and shares her insights and tools on how to survive and overcome difficult and challenging life experiences as well as how to find joy, and in the process, rediscover yourself.  Elizabeth Jane is a celebrated voice in personal growth and resilience. Through her book, art and keynote addresses, she has inspired countless individuals to embrace change and unlock their potential.


Jane has outlined eight detailed tips to help singles make the most of the year ahead and hit the ground running.


Reflect and reset

  • Take time to process the breakup and understand what you want moving forward. Journaling or speaking with a therapist can help you gain clarity and set a strong emotional foundation,.

  • Look for inspirational and thoughtful tools to help you plan and prepare. My book, Free and First – Unlocking Your Ultimate Life, is filled with insights, tools and tips to help people lift their mood and life.  Journalling and self-exploration helped me when I was going through a difficult divorce and my hope is that my learnings will help others.


Prioritise your wellbeing

  • Unfortunately, when we are down, our health and wellbeing tend to suffer.  It is important to ensure you focus on your health—mentally, physically and emotionally.

  • Establish a routine that includes regular exercise, nutritious meals and mindfulness practices such as meditation or yoga.


Forgiveness and letting go

  • Learn the lessons from your experience and forgive your ex. You don’t need to condone their behaviour but holding grudges, judgement and staying in victim mentality holds you back from lifting your mood and can lead to health challenges.

  • Feeling into and letting go of heavy feelings such as sadness, anger and loneliness rather than suppressing them is vital to begin the healing process.

  • Let go of all past drama and focus on doing more of what brings you joy.


Set achievable goals for yourself

  • Goals are important and help to keep us present so that we are not constantly looking backwards, dredging up our history and drama.

  • Whether it’s career growth, fitness milestones or personal development, setting realistic goals gives you direction. Break them into smaller and actionable steps to maintain momentum.


Declutter for clarity

  • Focus on creating a fresh, inviting and personalised space. 

  • Refresh your living environment to reflect your personal style and new beginning. A spring clean, giving away or selling things that are no longer bringing you joy and are cluttering your life as well as small changes, like rearranging furniture or adding new decor, can uplift your mood and mindset giving you more clarity of what you need going forward.

Expand your horizons

Focus on moving forward and growing your network. Explore new hobbies, join local groups or take up a skill you’ve always wanted to learn. Engaging in new experiences builds confidence and widens your social circle.


Reconnect and build community

  • It is common for people who are in a relationship to lose touch with friends and others.  Reconnect with those with whom you may have lost touch and strengthen existing relationships.  Make the effort to meet new people.

  • Choose to surround yourself with positive and inspirational people and minimise time with those who are negative or like to dwell on the past.  Support from friends, family or even online communities can provide encouragement and inspiration.


Embrace gratitude and optimism

Each day, take note of three things you’re grateful for. Shifting your focus to the positives helps you stay optimistic and open to opportunities.


Jane emphasised that being single is not just about what you’ve left behind—it’s about the limitless possibilities ahead.  With the right mindset and tools, you can make 2025 your most empowering year yet.
