Summer Bodies Are Made in Winter

it's easy to get complacent in winter and lose track of your diet and exercise program but before you know it Spring will be here, and if you want to look good for the warmer months you have to keep on track during winter. To make it easy I've listed just four of best tips to keep you in shape this winter!

Keeping fit in winter

1. Winter is not a free for all!

I'm all for enjoying a amazing meal out, celebrating special occasions and living life. But ordering pizza because you are feeling lazy is never ok - those calories will need to burned off eventually. Realistically, Sydney has 10 (max 12) weeks of cool weather, so there isn’t a lot of time here to totally have your foot off the pedal!

Healthy soup

2. Soups

My favourite, low calories winter food has to be light soups. Try to go for water rather than cream based options as this will save you loads of calories!

Make your own soup base.

5 carrots,

2 onions,

2 tbl chopped parsley

2 celery stalks

1 sprig of fresh thyme

2 large leeks

1 bay leaf

Freshly ground pepper

4 litres of water - boil then simmer for about an hour then drain. Stock will last for 3-4 days in fridge.

For soup, add chopped chicken breast and vegetables and simmer until cooked through.

Green tea for weight loss

3. Go Green

Switch the calorie dense hot chocolates and lattes for some green tea. Some anecdotal reports show a reduction in hunger, plus there is a pile of other health benefits

4. Invest in Yourself

Too often I get a rush of new clients coming to me on the first hot day in spring, only to realise its probably too late to look and feel how they’d like to in a bikini. Find yourself an accredited, experienced PT, train hard and reap the rewards this summer :)
