Sofitel Darling Harbour Night of Nights
I can claim a piece of history! Last night I was the first guest to stay in room 2708 at the Sofitel Darling Harbour Sydney. What an amazing experience it was to stay in a brand new hotel. As well, I was a guest at the soft launch of the opening of the hotel thanks to the generosity of Dr Jerry Schwartz who donated all the rooms to various charities to help them raise funds. I was representing Wings4Kidz as the charity's Ambassador.
Supporters of the charities were treated to a fabulous cocktail party and a night in the hotel. It was a very successful fundraiser and as mentioned, extremely generous of Dr Jerry Schwartz who is known for his philanthropy.
Checking in and out was quick and easy and all the staff I met were delightful. My room was lovely and being brand new was pretty special! I loved the view! When I went to bed later that night I could gaze out at the amazing view which was spectacular - I rarely sleep with hotel curtains closed. The bed was super comfortable and a great range of pillows to choose from.
I loved the bathroom, it was almost like a room within my room! The main door can close off the whole area for complete privacy. The towels were super soft and large! Probably the best hotel towels I have ever used and I've stayed in plenty of hotels. Also the Lanvin toiletries were lovely. The bathroom area very spacious with a walk in wardrobe and spacious area for luggage.
The mini bar is adequately stocked. A Nespresso machine and kettle with complimentary tea and coffee are tucked neatly away in the cabinet.
The furniture and decor of the room is modern and crisp. The room certainly lives up to the standard you would expect from such a high profile hotel as Sofitel Darling Harbour.
I actually had a sneak preview of the hotel a few weeks ago and also had the privilege of meeting Dr Jerry Schwartz on that occasion on also last night. A very interesting man.
As you would expect from a hotel such as this, the facilities are top of the range. The dining area and bar is spectacular.
There is also a bar outside the pool area and downstairs in the foyer. Speaking of the pool! It is amazing! The infinity pool gives the illusion that you might swim right over the edge and drop!

Next to the pool is the gym. It's well equipped with stunning views across Darling Harbour.
The gym has a fresh bowl of apples for a snack and bottled water. A lot of thought has gone into the amenities to give guests the best stay.
On arrival to the hotel guests are greeted by the friendly staff who will help them with their luggage and check in. The foyer is magnificent, you walk in and immediately feel 'luxury'. Over the escalator are hanging macrame lights which are very beautiful. The escalator leads up to the function rooms that cater for events and seminars with modern technology.
At our event the catering was sensational with plenty of food and drink. No one went hungry! We had canapes, prawns, oysters, arancini balls, and mini hamburgers with a selection of desserts that never seemed to end.

On finishing this post, the hotel is situated next to the Sydney Convention Centre and Darling Harbour Shopping and food centre. It is an easy walk across the bridge to the CBD. Also close to the Chinese Garden of Friendship and China Town. Pyrmont has plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafe's as well as the Casino.
Deb stayed as a guest of the hotel as the Ambassador of Wings 4 Kids, her views are an honest opinion and experience. There is one affiliate link in this post. Please read our full Disclaimer.
