Sydney Mardi Gras 2017

Sydney Mardi Gras

Sydney came alive with Mardi Gras last week, and I was lucky enough to be invited down to the Pullman Sydney Hyde Park for the pre-Mardi Gras Rainbow Party to enjoy the start of the parade. Thanks to my gorgeous friend, Jason and the marketing team at Pullman Sydney Hyde Park (Kylie and Jacinta) x

The Pullman Sydney Hyde Park holds a very special place on Sydney Chic, it was in fact one of my very first blog posts, and I've come a long way since then.

This is my fifth year at the start of Mardi Gras (I used to live in College St) and each year is just as exciting as the previous. As the momentum built up I did some live broadcasting for Sydney Chic Facebook and Instagram, and also for Belloccio Restaurant which resulted in one comment from a viewer saying "this coverage is better than SBS live". LOL... love it!

As well, my good friends Glen & Leo aka @StyleGuy.TV and I did some filming for one of their upcoming episodes.

As the parade began, I went over to interview some of the participants and before I knew it, they had me marching in the parade with them! So yes, that was me for those who had to take a double-take, but it was just one of those impromptu things that you just 'go with the flow' with.

Even though I was dressed in black and had high heel boots on, being in the Parade (quite by accident) was something I will never forget. I witnessed so many happy people who are there for one message! Diversity! It's acceptance of who we are! Doesn't matter creed, colour, race, sexual preference, rich, poor, age, ability, disability or whatever,

I've always been a huge supporter of the LGBT Community and I'm not afraid to show it via this blog or social media. I'm proud to be living in a city that has this annual event which attracts people from around the world; if you have never been to Mardi Gras, then check it out next year. It's a wonderful experience.
