Fashion On The Ivy Roof Top

Well after all the craziness of Halloween and trick or treating it was time for an event with a different level of "class". Yes that's right, one of my favourite days of the year - Melbourne Cup Day. I love it for a lot of reasons... when I was a young boy my Great Auntie Dulcie and I would get very excited about the race, following the form guide for weeks in advance (I was only 7 and she was 80) and the anticipation built up to this special day. We'd placed our bets and I'd put my one dollar on a box trifecta (she taught me how to do this at 7 lol). Watching it on TV with her I felt a great sense of occasion - the horses, the crowds, the gala festivities, the flowers - so very grand and very exciting. I think this is where the romanticism of the day comes in for all Australians - it's just so "special."

And of course it's about the fashion! So as my Sydney Chic colleagues and I prepared to attend a very special party to celebrate this auspicious event I want to take "hats off" to some of the best looks I've seen in fashions on the field from this years carnival.

Deb Carr, Leo Pimpa and myself prepared our looks for this year's Midas Construction VIP gala event held at the Ivy Pool Club, the flagship designation for the Merivale group in Sydney. We had our fashions on the field sorted and we are looking forward to being hosted by this great company.

We had a little surprise in store because this year the three "chic's" co-ordinated their hues and their accessories! Especially to 'pop' in the photo competition for best dressed.

Enjoy the photos below of the event.

Footnote; I won that year ! My $1 bet with Auntie Dulcie returned $380 as I placed and box first, second and third. I could only hope for such luck today xx 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🏆 Glen x
