Interview with Model Lydia Simonis

by Deb Carr

There is another striking thing about this young lady, apart from her gorgeous looks and body, and that is she is friendly and has an endearing personality. Lydia is a Polynesian Australian with a love for Polynesian dancing. I asked Lydia for a quick interview the other day whilst at La Boutique in Double Bay.

How old are you?

I'm 15 years old

How did you get into modelling?

I became friends with Dan on of the colourists at La Boutique, through dancing and he introduced to me to Belinda who owns La Boutique who then introduced me to her good friend, Danielle, who is the Director of IMG Modelling. I contacted Danielle and I got a contract.

How many magazines have you been in?

Well I've only been modelling a few months and I've done a lot of shoots. I've been featured in Oyster Magazine, Dolly, Modern Hair & Beauty and a French magazine.

What do you love about modelling?

I love meeting so many people who have such interesting stories about travel and what they have been doing with their life.

What does mum think about your new career?

Mum is very supportive. As long as I'm good, she always supports whatever I want to do.

Are you going to continue with your education now that you are modelling?

Yes, of course. I'm in year 11 now and being home schooled and I am going to keep my education up, plus keep dancing and modelling.

What do you love about Sydney?

Everything! I've grown up here so this is pretty much what I know. I love the people, I love the shops and I love how people come here from around the world as "the place to see".
